Who's making a living day trading futures?

Quote from DblArrow:

Must be a stock trader and your ignorance in FUTURES is evident -

This is not required for futures only trading, as they are marked to market.

The first clue was calling dorman a large fcm when my money is currently parked at an fcm that is 16 times bigger.

Lately I only average 400/500 $ per day.
honestly, that is quite awesome and impressive to me...may I ask...what contracts? ES, NQ, CL?..great trading

I'm pretty disciplined -- I've learned painful lessons (and lost plenty of capital) in the past.
have you blown your account before?how many trades per day?

Quote from forex-forex:

I pull in about $35,000 A DAY trading the ES and YM, not bad for two hours of trading in the morning. :)

I was in Woodies room several years ago and I know nobody there made any money. Even the star of the room at the time said he barely broke even (via PM). When I learned this, I was out of there.

Just wondering if anyone is making a nice living day trading futures?

No neeed for attacks or flames...

About half my profits come from intraday futures trading.

I took some pretty severe (50%+) drawdowns in some of the early days. For my money, that's blowing out an account. At this point, my trading account is usually 100-200k...if it gets bigger, I pull cash out. I typically bank roughly 1/2 of my monthly profits at the end of the month...keeps me from getting too confident and doing stupid things. A busy day might be 20 trades (sometimes the positions are one contract, sometimes larger depending on the instrument, volatility, and market behavior), but fewer is more typical. For the week so far it looks like I've made about 20 trades -- so about 4 per day. I don't trade every day (more specifically, there are days when I don't see trades that work for my system, and I may not enter or exit positions on those days.) I'm not opposed to swing trades or holding positions overnight...again, it depends on the market.
