Anyone go downtown to see the fireworks today? I took my wife and my six year old in the convertible and we sat with the top down watching fireworks on an absolutely gorgeous everning in Chicago.

It seemed like they shortened them this year though? And did you notice the security? Oh-ma-gawd. No "getting stuck" on the drive this year, and probably 5000 police officers scattered around the pier/surrounding areas.

I saw them from a nearby apartment. They didn't seem any shorter- we actually thought longer and better.

The police state display on LSD coupled with the patriotic battle music was almost Soviet though.
