I'm sure you got this already, but my point was religion and politics have nothing to do with this case. Fame plus wealth kept Polanski from getting a stiff sentence and kept him out of prison for the last 30+ years. If anyone reading this thread had committed the same crimes, they would have served their 5+ years in prison immediately after their conviction and would be registered as a sex offender for what I believe is a lifetime punishment.
Scratch that. It wouldn't be a 5+ year sentence. Alcohol, drugs, rape, 13-year old girl and 44-year old man. We'd be in jail at least 10 years, maybe longer.
