Who'd have thought? Charles Barkley offers most coherent message on race relations.

Got to say Barkley stock just went way up in my book, and no its not from his golf swing, who would have thought that an athlete would offer up the most thoughtful well balanced perspective on this debate, WTF do they pay news anchors for? Kudos to Barkley.

Who ever thought that the most lucid comments regarding this entire sad Trayvon/Zimmerman situation would come from Charles Barkley?

Definitely worth watching.

I frequently agree with him but even when I don't I respect his analysis and give it thought.

What makes him interesting is that he thinks well, has an interesting perspective and does not seem to be giving us talking points from one side or the other.

We ask so little. Be thoughtful don't bullshit.
Barkley is one of the few who respects his audience instead of uses his audience. (either that or his is a supreme actor... which makes him interesting anyway)

Yeah therer was parts of that video i disagreed with, but the simple fact that he was willing to draw out logical arguments as opposed to just calling someone a racist made me listen to and respect his opinion, even though sometmies i disagreed.

I've always know Barkley to be a conservative or conservative-leaning, like Bill Cosby.

Agreed. I read a book he wrote (co-wrote) about 12-14 years ago and it was surprisingly good. His view on racial issues was also pretty evolved, especially when you consider that he was born and raised in Alabama. He viewed race as a class issue, poor blacks/poor whites, etc, etc...and did not really take sides (nor does he still). If you listen to him on various topics, he will surprise you. I just think that the southern drawl and his somewhat garbled speech makes it easy for people to write off what are otherwise intelligent comments (for the most part).

+1

I didn't agree with his belief that trayvon was racially profiled. I would agree he was profiled in a black outfit with hoodie, acting suspicious, and walking aimlessly in the pouring rain: profiled as a potential burglar. NOT racially profiled.

I also do not agree with Barkley's voting for Obama.

I do, however, agree with a majority of what he said. He made good comments, and that's a breath of fresh air coming from black America.
