Who wants to be a profitable trader?

I'm wrestling with this so help me understand.

A higher high can indicate the beginning of a new trend. May be a false indication or might be true with follow thru. Only time will tell.

Are you saying your indicator can tell the difference, that price will follow thru? Isn't that "prediction" of the trend?
I'm saying it is possible to devise an indicator that will tell you if a trend is present Right Now. That doesn't mean the trend won't begin to dissipate in the very next time step. But most trends persist at least for a little while. There are no guarantees but trading is a game of percentages. Traders need to realize that early on: you're not going to win every trade, you just need to win more money than you lose on a consistent basis. Many different ways to skin that cat.

Don't have to devise one it's called an SMA.

I'm not trying to be "wise" just don't get it i guess.

I don't even consider moving averages to be indicators, IMO they are data filters. Nothing wrong with that, price can be awfully noisy and I use a data filter myself. But MAs tell you nothing about trend strength. The stronger the trend, the more likely it is to persist and make you money if you're riding it. Don't expect to find a great trend indicator on a book page or a web page, this is strictly do-it-yourself territory.

This thread needs live calls
(talk vs walk)

By live calls you mean long every pullback without a stop and then adding if pb doesnt hold and just waiting for trend to carry you through ?

If that what you mean by live calls?

That's not trading, that's long and hope with averaging down added into the mix.

You sound like angry perma-bear :D
I just do what makes money. You're supposed to be a buyer in a bull market, ya know.
So, yes. I wait for the 'trend to carry me through'

that goes both ways, seen a few here do the opposite on a regular basis and seem to do ok even against the trend

MarketAddict, you cannot PREDICT what the market will be doing tomorrow (trend or range), you can only:

1: Observe the price action and THEN join a possible trend in progress

2: Observe the price action and then trade IF there is emerging evidence of a possible range bound market.

In both cases you have to wait so you can select the right strategy and trade accordingly.

You just completely contradicted yourself

Not a permabear, that would be Ammo.

Glad you making money, but what you do is not trading.
