What if the US main competitor (China) keeps this new "coupon" system and just creates another 30 trillion yuan over the next few years.
The crazy thing is a "limited duration" or "limited use" digital money. That is real control. Give the citizenry time limited cash to spend into a struggling economy.
But, if you can't get hard assets with it (unlimited duration) then it's not real money. But, it could be weaponized as a form of helicopter money or a sort of targeted universal basic income (maybe can pay interest with it).
This is crazy stuff. Maybe have a fixed (floating?) conversion rate with the unlimited duration yuan?
Imagine a sort of 'chimera' capitalist-communist system with weaponized and unconventional monetary policy?
I don't even know how to think about money that has a life span.
