I've read fountainhead, atlas shrugged, Anthem, and We the living...in that order. We the living being my favorite of the lot and fountainhead being second. I didnt care for Atlas shrugged as literally all of the "good" characters were basically the exact same person/personality and she portrayed the villains as pathetic idiots to make it easy for the heroes to appear as such. With that said, You can throw out all the dirt you want buddy but she was a very smart woman that saw the horrors of communism with her own eyes. I enjoy reading what she had to say.
No, she wasn't that smart. She was just ham-fisted and a victim of her past. Rand lived at one unfortunate extreme of the political spectrum during her early years and naively assumed that the solution to all problems was at the other extreme. Meanwhile, most of life's answers rest somewhere in between.

I do agree with you that she saw one extreme so supported the opposite extreme...the middle ground being where the answers lay. But the world could use a little more Ayn Rand to balance out the extreme left uber socialist movement that is going on. I do very much support individualism and believe the smallest minority is the individual. I also agree with her that The more people improve themselves the less they will need a government handout...paid for by the middle class who grow poorer and poorer each day. Focus on solving your own problems before trying to solve anybody else's.
