Damn straight about these actors and artists expressing their political ideas and trying to influence others. Who the hell do they think they are to have an opinion, and express it freely?
Why the hell don't these damn liberals practice politics the proper way, keep their damn mouth shut and do it the right way. You know the right way, like wealthy corporations do with C.E.O.'s like Kenny Lay.....and just finance the hell out of political campaigns, offer deals behind the scene for financial support, coax their buddies to give money, and peddle influence quietly like good old white boys and prep school graduates are supposed to do.

Ya, actors and artists shouldn't be espousing political opinion, we need to leave that to the clergy, talk radio, and Fox News.
The difference is you pay through the nose for a ticket to a concert to hear music, not to be subjected to some sanctimonious high school dropout lecturing a captive audience with nitwit political theories. If I want to hear some socialist crap, I know to tune to public tv or radio and I can get my fill, paid for by the taxpayer.
And if the musician was spouting love for conservativism, and preaching conservative policies, would you have the same emotional response?
You seem to forget that the tradition of musicians speaking their mind goes back to the 60's, and was a vital part of the political hemisphere. If you don't like what they say, don't pay to see them.
It is their right to say whatever they want.
I find it entirely ridiculous to hear the right wing radio talk shows trashing these musicians, then using their music as bumper music in between segments.
You're right they are entitled to say whatever they want. I find it insulting that some entertainer who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars starts spouting socialist nonsense or is pretending to be some working class hero, but no one is forcing me to buy a ticket. Of course, no one was forcing people to watch Rush on ESPN, but somehow that was different.
But if these deep thinkers like the Dixie Chicks and Sean Penn want to insult the vast majority of the country, they should be prepared to accept the consequences. Instead they go on TV and whine that their rights have somehow been abridged.
