WHO lauds Sweden's approach

Thanks for the links... but no mention of shutdown and economic destruction.
We all know there were previous pandemics.
Science won in the past...
This time science has not been observed.

Obviously you are not reading the articles. Schools shut down, pools shut down, theaters shut down and everyone required to stay at home. Most work places shutdown except for essential businesses in impacted areas.

The best practices from a science and public health perspective are being put in place in the U.S. and most countries world-wide to address COVID-19. These measures include a 60 day lockdown followed by a staged re-opening.

Let me repeat this once again.... maybe this is why they were called the greatest generation rather than the bunch of millennial p#$$ies we have today.

When my father came back home from the army after WW2.
And the theaters were shutdown, pools closed, and everyone locked down with no travel due to the polio epidemics in the late 40s.
The G.I.'s did not whine like little biatches about their "rights".
They stayed the F#@k home and followed the public health guidance.

schools pools and theaters....
is not what we are suffering... that was clearly set up to protected kids.

Polio seemed to peak during summer seasons. When it did break out in your city, town, or region then lockdowns, quarantines, travel restrictions etc. occurred.

The world was not "globally connected" after WW2 like it is today with air travel & fast transit. By applying lockdowns in a local area and not allowing travel by train/car in or out of it.... it was possible to get polio under control (somewhat) when it flared up.

For those who are pushing the narrative that Sweden has the correct policy and that Trump is a great infallible leader --- then I wonder how these people will reconcile Trump's statement with Sweden's policy.

They can't. They have to choose.

Anyone that thinks Trump is a "great infallible leader" needs his or her head examined.

so a regional approach not anything like we did with Covid.
Seems like we had a more rational approach to every past pandemic.

Today we are in a globally connected world with airlines and fast cars where pandemics spread quickly. We also have a much greater percentage of people who travel.

My father never left his home town until he joined the army in WW2 and then afterwards went to the university (which he had to go to late since the polio lockdown delayed the start of classes).
