Who just launched an ICBM 35 miles from SoCal coast?

That would be a tough one. That missile wasn't a J-dam, or sidewinder, etc., It was a biggie!:eek:
 
I live a couple of blocks from the ocean in Southern California and my daughters and I could see the contrail quite clearly through our telescope. We've seen many missle tests and this one was a medium/narrow contrail relative to most that we've seen (particularly from Vandenberg). There were strong winds aloft and the wind forces spread it across the sky quickly making it look larger than it originated.

We've seen many large missle launches over the years, and this did not look like a large missile contrail. More like medium sized. Not sure what it was, but I doubt that it was an ICBM based on smaller size and relatively flat trajectory (measured off horizon) .

The first few frames of the newscast shows a Chinook helicopter in the top right, do you think they may have noticed a missile launch?
 
I found a video of the rocket being launched from a ship at sea. I should contact NORAD immediately to let them know i found the culprits!

SLBM launch from rogue US Military commanders showing THEY have some control over very critical events. :eek:

The Pentacon and US early warning systems were totally caught of guard it seems......this is a very interesting event imo. :eek:

American military chiefs have been left dumbstruck by an undetected Chinese submarine popping up at the heart of a recent Pacific exercise and close to the vast U.S.S. Kitty Hawk - a 1,000ft supercarrier with 4,500 personnel on board.

By the time it surfaced the 160ft Song Class diesel-electric attack submarine is understood to have sailed within viable range for launching torpedoes or missiles at the carrier.

According to senior Nato officials the incident caused consternation in the U.S. Navy.

The Americans had no idea China's fast-growing submarine fleet had reached such a level of sophistication, or that it posed such a threat.

One Nato figure said the effect was "as big a shock as the Russians launching Sputnik" - a reference to the Soviet Union's first orbiting satellite in 1957 which marked the start of the space age.

The incident, which took place in the ocean between southern Japan and Taiwan, is a major embarrassment for the Pentagon.
