I've got news for you my friend this world has always been about the struggle between the selfish and unselfish since the beginning of time.
Donât you mean the struggle of selfishness within our selves? No need to look outside for the bad guys.
This sad statistic above of 99.9% is a completely false in my opinion. I would say that it would be more like 10%. Totally the opposite.
I have done some more backtesting and have found that my previous percentages were incorrect. The new backtested results containing data from âthe beginning of timeâ put the percentage of selfish acts at 99.999%
Thank GOD because if what your saying where true which it is not, you wouldn't even be here right now.
Are you saying that when my parents procreated it was not for selfish reasons?
Just ask any soldier on the battlefield right now that is putting his/her life on the line for your right to live.
My right to live? I did not know that my right to live depended on wars for oil/land/money/power.
The list of people that care about humanity and others goes on and on.
I did not say that there are no saints in this world. What I said is that they are few and far between. And IMO Woodie is not one of them. Don't freak out.
When you open your eyes and start to care about others and take your focus off yourself, you will be amazed at the blessings that you will discover.
You might want to know a little about me before you make such a statement.
Also your so-called caring about others can also be self-serving. That is the point I was making about Woodie. Again,Woodieâs selfishness, which is the basis of 99.999% of all of our activities, is not being condemned. As far as I am concerned everyone who wants a chat room with 500+ people in it should have one. Just be honest about the reason for having a room with the participants. I donât think any of Woodie's devotees are going to leave his room if he said he was lonely and he liked attention. His room serves a purpose for all participants, including Woodie.
I don't even know how to respond to the "subtle sex" comment but that sounds very freudian to me.. and in my opinion the height of stupidity.
Its logical that you donât understand how pride, adoration and distinction are the pleasures of the false ego. We are all on different levels of understanding in the journey of life. However, I doubt that referring to my understanding of the subject matter as the âheight of stupidityâ is going to help you in your personal struggle to overcome selfishness.

Yep. Good points, nitro. But here's what I think most fail to look at. I'm sure this "Woodie" (whoever the hell he's supposed to be) knows very well how to trade. But, why would he bother? Let's say I ran a chatroom and I had a mere 40 suckers.....er, uh....well (cough) I mean....uh..... "clients" paying me $300 a month. Let's see. Believe that would be about $12,000 per month.
Good marketing and all the appropriate disclaimers ("trades are taken at one's own risk"....."past performance doesn't guarantee future results"....."this MAY only be good for a small scalp"....."you should have considered the resistance overhead at 'x'"......and all the other "reasons", ad nauseam) can make a guy very well-
known and wealthy. So.....Why would he care whether he posts his statements or not. Apparently, this is working VERY well for some "operators".
We all say you gotta be careful out there. But, how can a person know (especially a newbie), if these types refuse to prove results? Seems to be a vicious cycle.
Someone once wrote that there are three types of people:
1. Sharks
2. Sharkbait
3. Sharkproof

You are absolutely correct though - why trade if you can pull $10,000/M from a chatroom, directly or indirectly? Easy work if you can get it (I would have a problem doing it, but not everyone has my "guilt" issues.)
There is a whole new culture of people that have recently emigrated to ET - the chatroom operators. It used to be one or two, now it seems like every Tom Dick and Harry runs one.
My guess is that it has a great deal to do with the markets themselves. Even professional traders in the Chicagoland area are hurting badly.
Many of these people have mouths to feed. Many of them have no real skills outside of being able to trade. Where are they going to make money? Even if they had the skills to go do something outside of trading, they would be competing with younger employees that are willing to take 1/2 the pay, for a position that has 50 applicants.
The level of desperation is intense. I believe more people will actually be flocking to these chatrooms, with no job offers in site and the layoffs continuing, in the hope they can be the one in a hundred traders that make it.
On the other side of that coin are the pro's that actually made money year after year. I believe they are going to be meeting the needs of these people. The sad thing is, these ex-traders, while they were honest to goodness pro's at one time, can no longer trade today's markets.
Do you see an accident waiting to happen?

Again I find it logical why you would disagree with my understanding, TOTALLY. I do thank you for your best wishes on understanding the true nature of giving. I can use all the help I can get in life and on the book project I am working on in conjunction with the Metanexus Institute and the Templeton Foundation to be entitled âGiving, the ontological nature of loveâ
We hope to quantify many aspects of mundane âgivingâ such as;
Giving: in the mode of ignorance - The giving of 10 dollars to a wine-o sitting in front of a liquor store
Giving: in the mode of passion â The supposed selfless donating of money for the cleanup of the Hudson River when you happen to own an estate on the riverâs bank. Letâs not forget the supposed selfless teaching of trading to wannabe traders, etc.
Continuing on to what constitutes truly unselfish giving â love.

Well since you put it that way... I will be happy too.
Let me address the issue of Woodie first.
I do not know Woodie personally but I have spent a month in his room and he does have a mission and I believe that mission is to further the efforts of his chosen Charity "The Make a Wish Foundation". I can say this with some certainty because I tried to run a free room myself and I know the toll it takes on someone and the necessary effort to keep it going and trust me fame is NOT enough and if the man wanted money he is intelligent enough to just convert the room to a pay room and be done with it.
So stop looking for his hidden agenda, it's not hidden at all and as far as I'm concerned all the power to him. I personally gave gladly in exchange for his knowledge and use of the cci. I would have done it happily with no conditions anyway. It is an excellent charity.
Now...
To answer your second question to the true meaning of giving. Unfortunately it's not one that will fit into the intellectual or logical box your trying to make it fit in.
If we use examples like the ones your studying and other more famous examples of selflessness such as Mother Theresa etc , etc ... we find only one real common denominator and that is of a much higher GOD understanding and connection.
This will never be explained ... only experienced.
This why I truly hope you will someday understand the true meaning of giving because when you do you will know what I'm talking about and it will be crystal clear to you.
I am not here to push any religious or spiritual beliefs on anyone only to share my personal experiences.
Everyday all around us there are people that give selflessly.
Nurses, Firemen, School teachers, Police, Pastors, Rabbi's, all these people could be doing something else, they choose to do this because they are called to a greater good. They have a force inside them that only they understand and connect with and for each and everyone of them it is different but the same.
They run into burning buildings, they get shot at, they spend hours upon hours grading spelling exams because they want to make a difference.
This really isn't such a hard thing to see ... so why do so many choose to focus on whats wrong rather than whats right?
The only answer is the connection to that GOD understandng and wisdom is not as strong as it needs to be and the more you seek it the stronger it will become.
That's all I can say on the subject the rest is up to us.
