I spent 20 minutes typing a reply (which I did not want to do since I don't want to debate politics here) and my pet cockatiel who was playing nearby erased it with his beak. Damn!!

The gist was that since you made a rational comment in reply to my semi-sarcastic post and I respect those who remain rational while disagreeing with someone I would reply:

I did not intend to vote for Obama but after last night and today I am willing to give Obama a shot with my future! I am willing to trust him! I was there when Kennedy was nominated and I think he inspired a generation. My generation! We all know he was not the perfect angel he was made out to be at that time. But inspiration can go a long way in society. Most positive change has come about secondary to inspired and enlightened leaders who brought new ideas and new vision to the table. Witness Reagan the movie actor who, whether you liked him or not was able to inspire and lead by charm, charisma and intelligence.... not experience!

I just volunteered to work for Obama after planning on voting for McCain who I respect ! However I will not put the future of this Country into the (possible) hands of a nice cute woman from AK who can shoot a rifle. Sorry! If anyone reading this is a true American and patriotic then you owe it to the Country to either not vote or not vote for McCain unless you have no qualms about Sarah becoming your next commander-in-chief after being mayor of a town in Alaska with 8000 people a few short years ago when skirt lengths were shorter!

Not trying to be rude to women but guys let's get real. This is not a dress rehearsal for women.

This is the REAL DEAL!

This is all our lives!

With all due respect I don't think we/you are giving enough credit to intelligent women voters. I think women want a woman to be President, and frankly a woman can't do any worse than Bush and others have done, and might be highly refeshing. BUT I think they want someone more qualified, and they will prove it in November.

Sure hope I am right :-)
 
I have no problem following a woman in battle. I have been in the military and met women there that were true leaders.

I've had female bosses, enjoyed working for female bosses.

Some of the greatest leaders in history both past and present were women.

It is a myth that women can not make good leaders.

What is not a myth is that this pick is now McCains last nail in the coffin.

Palin, will prove to be a horrible calculation mark my words. I can just see her and Biden debating foreign affairs ....... Wyatt Earp vs Barney Fife

I think she is going to surprise an aweful lot of people with her experience in foreign affairs. After all, her neighbors are Russia and Canada - not any other U.S. State.

Mac's choice for Veep will go down in history as the move which clinched his campaign.

I don't think anyone seriously doubts women in general or their ability to lead. I just think this pick is not what America needs at this time with John McCain being 72 years old!!! IF he was 50 years old I don't think we'd be having such an animated debate. Let's be honest about it; seventy-two years old with a prior Hx of cancer is a risk to begin with. So it's not a stretch to say he MUST pick someone READY to be President. She just isn't. Many women are; not this one.

That is my objective opinion as a former potential McCain voter. I don't care how many good speeches she gives in the next ten weeks!

Good Point. Let me go a little further. I believe many female voters from both parties will respect that she has been married to the same guy 20 years, has 5 kids (I think) while working and becoming successful in politics, and could actually be the first female prez in US history.

She has five kids and is not exactly a virgin anymore, of course she has experience - tons of it too, although she might be "slacking" a little. The hot mature and MILF options are going to go down well with those undecided bachelors not into ebony and who are not the nerds flocking to Obama and remembering "who built the Internet highway".

She was clearly the best choice amongst the VP candidates. I mean Bloomberg, Romney etc - c'mon... not exactly turn-ons for the republicans.
