Huckabee Says He'd Consider Using Federal Troops to Stop Abortions

huck_2.jpg

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told supporters in Iowa on Thursday that if he were elected president he would consider using the FBI or National Guard to end abortion by force. Per the Topeka Capital-Journal:

"I will not pretend there is nothing we can do to stop this," Huckabee said at the event, where a Topeka Capital-Journal correspondent was present.

At his next stop, in Rockwell City, Huckabee answered follow-up questions from the correspondent, saying: "All American citizens should be protected."

Asked by another reporter how he would stop abortion, and whether this would mean using the FBI or federal forces to accomplish this, Huckabee replied: "We'll see if I get to be president."

That's crazy. The right to an abortion has been upheld by the Supreme Court. Huckabee is saying he might simply disregard the judicial branch and stop the practice unilaterally—that is, he'd remove the checks from "checks and balances." It's not the first time he's proposed a constitutional crisis as an antidote to things he doesn't like. Huckabee has also said states should practice civil disobedience by ignoring the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriage.

And to think, we're still nearly a week away from the first primary debate.

Any presidential candidate musing about using federal troops against citizens is troubling to me.

The issue of whether a president is bound by any Supreme Court decision, no matter how unprincipled, is considerably more nuanced. The way the Constitution works, any two Branches of the federal government can prevail against the third in a dispute. So if the president decides to treat a Supreme Court decision as a nullity, the Congress can go along or they can impeach him, or they can impose lesser leverage, eg by not passing funding bills.

Of course, we have a president now who picks and chooses which laws he will obey and who alters the explicit language of laws to suit his purposes, and the congress just shrugs.

I don't always vote Republican ( I voted for Perot) but when I do, I prefer these qualities.

1. Must be better than Hillary.
2. Must be for drastically lowering or eliminating income taxes.
3. Must be for sealed borders and elimination of amnesty
4 Could be a real leader like Reagan who could pass a powerful contract for america type reform
5. Actually creates a new and better contract for America that will dislodge establishment republicans and democrats... leaving behind real conservatives and old school liberals who believe in liberty... but may also want single payer.
7. Energy independence plans

Now not everyone candidate will meet these qualifications at the moment ...
and we don't know everyone full platform...

so here are the current rankings

approved:
Ted Cruz...

choices with potential:
Scott Walker
Rand Paul
Donald Trump
Ben Carson

rejected due to incompetence, lying to america directly or a lying family member:

jeb bush
hillary Clinton
elizabeth Warren
boehner
mcConnell
pelosi
reid
obama (michelle)

feel free to make good pro freedom type suggestions.

in other words the typical big govt leftist trolls (and they new who they are) should expect to be deservedly mocked.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Excellent points; Jeb is snared badly by common core
Gov Huckabee is amoung the top %. Stay tuned; thanks

I would say if you want someone who knows the most about how business works and what assholes our enemies are and how to deal with them and the scumbags in congress the best would be Hillary Clinton.

Huck lost me when he started adopting the fox news pro establishment line of thought. AAA nailed it again above.

I realize why I lost interest in fox. They talked a big game in front of the election. Then when the establishment sold us out... I did not see enough of a reaction from them. Its almost like they were fine with it.
