finally, I am hearing a lot of people blaming the recent outbreaks of diseases on those (Americans) who don't vaccinate their children.
this really seems to misplace the blame... the real issues is all the kids coming in with the diseases.
the info is hard to track down but when I did track down the outbreaks in San Diego the outbreaks hit hardest in the areas and schools with large illegal immigrant populations.
we really need to seal the borders for public health reasons.
if the country wishes to bring in more people that is a political choice.. but lets make sure the immigrants are screened for diseases.

I agree with you that anyone coming into the U.S. should be vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated then you are not allowed into the country. If you are here already with no vaccination then it's deportation time.
Vaccines work due to the concept of herd immunity. Americans who do not vaccinate their children are putting all of society at risk. As the number who do not vaccinate increases, the risk of a deadly outbreak greatly increases.
you also have to understand the fund was set up to insulate the manufacturers from liability. anything set up by the likes of Ted Kennedy likely has a crony component.

You do realize the 0.001167% risk from vaccines is much less than the chance of dying from taking aspirin.
Yes, the fund was set up to insulate the manufacturers from liability - because in manufacturing medicine there is the slim possibility that something can go wrong with a dose or a child has a bad reaction to a good vaccine dose.
You do realize that percentage of bad prescription and OTC drug doses due to a manufacturing defect is much high than vaccines issues - and that issues with drugs kill many more people each year than vaccines.
The risk of not being vaccinated - which involves many of your family members and neighbors being dead - is much more of a problem that the minimal risk of a vaccine dose.
Vaccines are the lowest risk part of medicine. Everything else - medical drugs, medical devices, medical electronics, medical procedures, etc. has a much high risk (by 400x or more) than taking a vaccine dose.
