If....if mind you....I were to buy into that long theory that you just propelled into the ether, I would focus on this statement:
The Bush team, then, is not merely handing over the war to the next administration; it is also bequeathing deep economic problems that have been seriously exacerbated by reckless war financing. We face an economic downturn that's likely to be the worst in more than a quarter-century.
Then it would be truly fiscally suicidal to allow Obama to start nay one of his "give money to this by taxing" schemes. Seems as though a program of hold the numbers where they are should be enacted. EVERY waking, working citizen needs to pull their weight and then some for the cause. All should be encouraged to renovate instead of buying new for the next few years. We should hold the plans and restore things instead of embarking out into any debt possibility. Take a good accounting of where we are before we start running around to do ~ something!!!
If we are to subscribe to such massive burden reduction we need to educate as many Americans as possible with the understanding of why now more than ever, we need to solidly "BUY AMERICAN!" We need to save our country. The world will understand that message.
We need to stop sending aid abroad and start aiding as many folks and plans right here at home. We should challenge all American corporations to accelerate development of those next-gen concepts on the drawing boards now. Plan to start rolling things out in about two years to replace wastful older products. It's time to challenge R&B to increase our capacities. America needs to lead in a massive way now. Our technology needs to be second to none in any arena. It's time to put a major tech gap between us and ALL of the competition.
Floods and destruction is all around. We don't need to support any outside interests now. Lock down the borders while we rebuild and reconstruct. Mexico can understand that. Someone CLAIMED that we have rising unemployment. What better way to curb it than to start employing as many legal American Citizens as we can in this effort to Save America! Can you imagine how many of the populus can qualify to work border patrol and inspection right now?
It's time for emergency thinking. We need to once and for all verify our resources. Maybe a president with balls would challenge the oil industry to unequivically verify the oil in shale and off the coast just in case we need to accelerate it coming online. We're in bed with dictators, why not our own evil empires at home? Do this, tell them that in any finds they will imediately GIVE a certain percentage to the government annually for a period of ten years. Every little bit helps you know?
Why not let the government come to the table with the Arab communities with some oil weight also? Stocks the reserves economically (for free), covers the military fuel needs (another cost reduction), I think this is a win all the way around. I'd tell them that if they can bring the new finds online within five years, at a preset $60 barrel or less cost, there will be a major tax savings component in there for them. And any state that it is found in will receive special considerations of a percentage for a term also. That's go a long way to helping that state's budget too.
Just think, if the war is scaled back over the next five years, those resources will be coming online right in time for a wonderful bit of impact. This is war, we should be fiighting on all fronts. And a president can make that happen. If Bush had any balls about this he would be on TV monday morning.
If McCain weren't an ass in his own right, he'd be running around talking about how this is just the beginning of his doctrines. For Obama this would be too much of a flip so he couldn't embrace the plan and hence, there goes the election. As he claimed pandering, McCain could then talk about the next tax rate adjustment that he (I) proposed and how it would impact the country.
Why not birth a new savings mindset? Go on TV and tell the public about the new tax plan. And then say to those making less than $120,000, for every dollar that you save in a year you will receive a $0.50 credit towards the tax bill in that year. Make the plan a five year one and talk about how you are encouraging the pulic to save.
Go crazy on 'em. For every dollar in a IRA or Keogh for six years, you get a dollar credit for that same group. Don't try to force them to take care of themselves, give them the incentive to do it on their own! Tell them, you're helping ease the pain during the wartime struggles. Say:
"While our troops are away fighting the good fight, we need to circle the fiscal wagons here at home. It's time to sweep out the corruption. Time to stand up and be accountable for your own challenges! And as the leader of your government, I won't get in your way! As United Americans let's show the world the blueprint for how the big dog puts it in gear!"
Damn, that's enough of my thoughts. Next thing you know, I'll be running for the presidency. Clearly too much of a demotion!
