Our entire Iraq adventure was and continues to be a giant shitshow. We deposed a strong leader who acted as a counter weight to our common enemy, Iran. We then got rid of the entire Army and set loose decades of violence and death. Instead of Saddam Hussein, the sworn enemy of Tehran, we turned it into a colony of Iran. We ignored the violent and deadly persecution of Christians and entire Christian communities by proxies of our pals, the Saudis.

Say what you will about him, he was a man's man and a fucking animal.

Who cares about persecution of Christians. Elements of the Saudi government helped the 9/11 hijackers. Enough said.

True.We wouldnt be having problems with Iran building nukes and ISIS if republican president Bush wouldn't have overthrown Saddam.Hundreds of thousands of lives would have been saved too.

As far as I recall, we intervened in Iraq because Saddam bombed the shit out of the Kuwaiti oil fields. I recall watching that stuff on the TV live on CNN, in 1991. It was horrifying to see what was going on over there...Lighting oil wells on fire for no reason other than to cause environmental destruction.

Saddam needed to go. That was a BAD move on his part, the Kuwait thing. So you think that the world would be in a better place if Saddam was still alive?

Well, I dunno'...I recall Bush senior, #42, going into Iraq to stem the Kuwait problem. Desert Shield, Desert Storm and the rest. Then, I don't recall what Clinton did in the intervening 8 years. Now we got Bush junior, #44, in office, and 9/11 happens. Now the world goes to total shit. That be the timeline I see in my head.
