We the American people are custodians of our nation, so ultimately the responsibility of its failure lies with us. You will soon enough have cadre members of either major party responding by claiming it's the other party but it is indeed the failure of the American people to hold accountable its nations leaders who bear the blame.
Green River shale oil is worth $60 trillion, yet both parties won't allow drilling, that is a single asset and America has many assets it could use to pay off every debt, government or citizen.

If you're going to talk about over spending (number 2) then you need to put Bush in that list.
 
1) morals- everyone is corrupt. From the local mayor to the community organizer in the White House. And it's not just in politics. Seems these days most people have no problem doing "whatever it takes" to get ahead.

2) political correctness run amok- everyone is so afraid of "hurting someone's feelings" that it stops us from fixing the problem. Whether it's Muslim radicals wanting to kill all the infidels, or minorities leaching off the government in exchange for votes. The problem won't stop until everyone stops being afraid to say the truth.

3) personal responsibility- Gone. Especially in the black community (father 8 kids with 8 different women and abandon them...no problem with blacks.) Blame whitey for all your problems and then riot until you get a new t.v. from the looted Walmart.

4) mainstream media- our media is more concerned with pushing its agenda than just reporting the news. The far left has taken over the news and turned it into a propaganda network. A conservative says one wrong thing and it becomes front page news. A liberal says the same freaking thing and it's not even reported (Alec Baldwin anyone?)
 
The US still has some friends and allies elsewhere but we look on in some dismay as the US hurts itself more than the Taliban etc. could.

Europe can't be too cocky either after their record of two World Wars and Auschwitz to live down.

Can Asia do better ? The test is coming soon with disputes over small islands etc. Will China play the big bully financially or be wise. We shall see. Creating provocative fly zones across the sea , doesn't look good.

2. Technology advancing beyond our ability to know how to use it wisely. Technologically we're advancing by leaps and bounds, but socially we're still just peaking out of our caves.
3. A general acceptance of mediocrity as the chosen method of achieving equality. We're now in a race to the bottom.
4. White collar crime going unpunished while some guy selling a nickel bag is treated like Al Capone.
5. Unchecked Illegal immigration and a refusal to assimilate by those people. The country is now fractured into tribes.
6. Political and corporate corruption walking hand in hand forming an untouchable ruling class of elitists.
7. Last but not least, resting on our laurels. We should have taken note of the fine print in life. Past performance is no guarantee of future success.

Not understanding how wealth is created.

The Pope says we need to share the wealth. Capitalism has spent 500 years creating wealth.

Its hard to make the case, now that the wealth is there that we distribute it. Access to wealth has to be made easier and done through creativity and work.
 
The foolish mistake people make is thinking there is a difference between the two gangs. They essentially both support the same policies. It's like pro-wrestling. In front of the camera, they put on a show as two opposing forces but behind the scenes, they are planning how the stories will be presented to you.

The issues we are facing - fiscally and with other nations is a result of overreach of powers that are limited by the constitution.

The most disastrous blow came when the supreme court rules corporations are people and the money they contribute is free-speech YET a person's personal contributions to political campaigns is limited. It clearly shows you the collusion going on at higher levels and the constant coverups.

Liberalism is not much more than a wide-spread propaganda campaign. The spread of Keynesianism is being used as a tool in the U.S. to literally brainwash the masses into destroying themselves from within. The special-interest and persecution of competitors of those special interests is a result of the lobbying and big money resulting from those efforts.

On top of that, small-business has become the enemy. We have taxed and regulated small-business out of America.

The U.S.A is in for a soviet-style collapse within the next decade. I read an article recently in the NYTimes that we officially have more people living on government assistance than we have people working in America. This is not a trend that can be reversed. The reasons we have this problem are not being addressed. Instead, the masses want more deficit spending, more wars, more unconstitutional laws, more taxes, more regulations, more persecution of small-business and the poor.

It's been 50 years since JFK was assassinated in broad daylight. There have been confessions, video evidence, etc. etc. - Even our own congress came to the conclusion that the assassination was a conspiracy. The public still refuses to accept to believe this because of the power the TV and mass-media has over them. Think about it. Our president was assassinated and the perpetrators got away with it. If you can kill the president and get away with it, there is nothing you can not do.
 
This just about sums up everything that's wrong with our country. A nation of young people this f'n stupid cannot survive.
