'Who' bassist John Entwistle dies

I was never a big fan of this very creative and talented band, but something about 'Eminence Front' (that song rocked) grabbed me and of course it was bass driven. When I saw the video, I really began to appreciate his thoughtful playing (and the talent and dedication of the band in general).

As a keyboardist I would have to say that the song was totally driven by the sequenced keyboard riffs, along with that lame 2 note single string guitar part that Daltry played to pretend he was a musician as well as a singer. 
Due to the nature of the song and its relatively simple structure, there was not much room for Entwistle to do much but what he did do was great as he was truly an awesome bassist no doubt.

I saw John Entwistle playing in The John Entwistle Band at BB King's last year (October) when he was in town for the "Concert for New York City".
Also really enjoyed his playing in "A Walk Down Abbey Road" (Todd Rundgren, Alan Parsons, Ann Wilson, David Pack...), a tribute to The Beatles, last summer.
Not to mention The Who.

it was some of the snappiest bass playing i can remember. loved it. it really is a cool song and in music, as in trading, simpler is often better, no? if the music is simple, the lyric counters that a bit...
