Well, bleeding hearts aside, and liberal pablum aside, you will not be able to get the white President of the ACLU, or the white chair of the Progressive Caucus, to walk through a black neighborhood all by him or herself.
My father has been robbed three times in ten years, there have been only three robberies reported to Memphis Police in that subdivision in ten years, and guess what - my father is about the only caucasian left in that neighborhood.
There was a famous Chicago story about a journalist for the "Reader" who was beaten almost to death in a Chicago neighborhood. He wanted to know why, and did this multiple series story about it. The cops and the neighbors and the attacker's family told him: "well, you are white".
If you are so naive and principled - go live in one of those neighborhoods.
Here in Chicago, all the Libs live on the North Shore or in their Lincoln Park lofts - no way in hell you'd find them walking through an urban neighborhood. None of the politicians are sending their kids to DC or Chicago public schools.

No, not at all. Practical necessity contradicts your arguement and the government statisitics. A caucasian walking through most black urban neighborhoods is asking for trouble - and you know that. Dude, with respect to this particular topic I could care less about the propaganda or the government statitistics - I am on the primal level of pure survival. I grew up in Memphis and lived in the near North Side of Chicago for a dozen years. I have seen 'white flight' in my family's neighborhoods and have seen the consequences first hand of what that meant: my parents robbed three times and my mother's face disfigured and arm broken because gang initiation required a white person to get beaten - that was on the official Memphis Police Report.
I have seen and experienced enough to know where not to tread. I will take a polite pass on the government statistics in this circumstance. My feelings and fears regarding this topic are born out of first-hand reality.
Sorry to hear about your experiences but I have personally been to and walked through black urban neighborhoods for work and school my entire life and have never been attacked because I was white.I got into one fight when a black kid tried to steal my walkman and thats about it
I grew up in New Orleans where middle and upper class neighborhoods and the ghettos are often separated by a few blocks.As a kid and teen I walked through the St Bernard and St Thomas housing projects daily to get to and from school and was never attacked .None of the black people ever gave a shit that I was white.
