Which Trading Is More Enjoyable For You?

I started with stock swing trading but there is something about holding overnight that doesn't really sit right and it isn't all that enjoyable to me (stock scanning, sitting and waiting etc.). I want to be active in the market so I think I might start learning how to day trade index futures.

Anyone go through a similar shift in trading? (Btw, for those of you who trade index futures profitably what were some of the resources you used that helped you get to profitability?)

I think you limit yourself greatly by prohibiting to hold something overnight (especially if it entails indexes or commodities)...

i switched from daytrading stocks to daytrading futures about 17 years ago... just my 2 cents. but, it seemed like stocks trended longer and futures had shorter trends. it was an adjustment, and once i made that transition it took me some time to develop my first trading process. and the rest is history.

good luck

I do notice that regarding individual name vs index. The "cycles/trends" on QQQ is a lot shorter/faster than those on names even though the major trends have strong correlations.

As a discretional manual trend follower, the indexes are too fast. How do you deal with that? You automated your method?

Thank you in advance.

The short answer is that I never could make my trading process work with indexes due to fast indexes and quick turns. But it works on currencies, energies, Natty and metals that have better trends... That's my opinion lol... I trade with a guy that day trades indexes and does well, I couldn't trade indexes with any kind of consistency
