Which platforms/software do you recommend for simulated trading?

ninja trader is free for as long as you stay in sim mode, and has a lot of nice features. i have been using it for a few years now.

I don't daytrade any markets right now... brand new. Wanted to try stocks/futures/whatever

Ninjatrader is by far the best for simulated trading in my experience

The wealth of information you get in terms of trader metrics (performance reports), and the visual nature of your entries/exits being marked on the charts provides instant feedback on your trading.
