Which setting of MA does work well?

Using AAPL daily chart as an example. During uptrend, it tends to be orderly and downtrend, the open and close gap increases. As for MA period, shorter hugs the chart, and longer sets the trend. All trends will break eventually.

Thanks for sharing your observations about AAPL's daily chart. It's interesting how you've highlighted the differences in behavior during uptrends and downtrends. The relationship between the Moving Average (MA) periods and trend identification is a valuable point too. You're absolutely right that all trends will eventually break, so it's important for traders to stay vigilant and adaptable. Keep up the good work in your chart analysis!

I have a love hate relationship with mas so I only have them on a daily chart which I don't trade from. There, 50 and 200 period smas are watched by a lot of people.

When I have used them in intraday, 20 or 21 period emas seem to be watched by a lot of people. Price crossing and retouching after a time away.

You don't wanna be looking for the most accurate setting but the most popular setting.
Aloha schizo,

I’ve been enjoying reading your posts recently. You suggested n=21 in a recent thread. would it be possible for you to offer any insight on how you landed on 21 vs 20?
