I believe in science and I have zero respect for any religion, so they all start off equal in my eyes.
Some of the moral codes adopted by some religions are very positive but faith in a deity or deities is not a necessary requirement in order to behave in a moral way.
Some religious beliefs deserve outright condemnation. Mutilation of infants and young girls is abhorrent. Caste systems are inherently divisive and oppressive. Arranged marriage of young brides is controlling and oppressive to the point of abuse. Religious instructions on slaying disbelievers or apostates or homosexuals are ghastly. Same goes for religious cults such as Thuggee - though several Western sources doubt this as a reality while Indian sources aren't saying much. Nevertheless, the British colonial administration in India eradicated Thuggee, and also the disgraceful Hindu practice of Sati (or Suttee). Human sacrifice is illegal everywhere as far as I can make out, but certain African religions still countenance it, plus the killing of albinos.
