Which laptops for trading?

Thanks for the Toshiba warnings, had seen those Dell's and Gateway refurbs but equated them with a used car. Feel more confident about them now that some have bought them, how long have you had the refurbs, any issues with them? If Ian can trade with a 64mb ram I'm now confident that the Dell's will work just fine :-)
No chasing banks here just my two little ones, which can lead to broken laptop, so definately don't want to spend too much :-)

NO issues of ANY kind with this Gateway NX860XL.
Vista Home Pro fails me not. I've had it for almost 2 yrs.
 
Get a Lenovo IBM Thinkpad T series.
You can get the external docking station with a low profile pci-express card and run 4 screens off it.
These laptops are robust, small, and you can put a lot of memory in them.

Agree 100% Nothing comes close to a Thinkpad.

I've bought about 10 Dells from the outlet site. No more problems with them than from any other place.

Their 2 best laptops, according to customer reviews, are Precision 4300 and Vostro 2510.

I recently bought a 4300* and it's very fast and nice all around.

*4300 being phased out and replaced with Precision 4400. But the 4400's customer reviews are not nearly as good as the 4300.

The Dell Precision 4300 recently bought is to replace my HP Pavilion DV6000. The HP has been PERFECT for 2 1/2 years. I'm just replacing to get a new warranty and doing so early enough that I can still get a decent price for selling the HP used... maybe $300-$350.
 
I have a HP pavilion dv5000, running Ubuntu (a linux
operating system). The cool thing with ubuntu is that you can have multiple "desktops" or virtual screens that you can switch to with the click of a button.
