Which is more profitable? Short-term trading or long-term trading?

Thanks for the answer. Although short-term trading is more profitable with a sound methodology, is it fair to say short-term trading is not as scalable as long-term trading? Hard to manage a big fund because it is hard to go in and out short-term?

Yes. But you are talking a lot of money before it becomes a problem.

In theory short term since you can catch every turn. HOWEVER,

“In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.”

― Albert Einstein

I think, he's correct, both theoretically and practically!

Let me know when you run into liquidity issues day trading ES futures or similar.

Until that happens, this is just mental masturbation.

I agree...most people...when they think of trading or day trading...they think of individual small company penny stocks only  -- maybe its because that's all they know -- or have seen advertised.

But there's a whole other world out there -- a bigger, real ....not bs penny day trading stock... world.

@OP hasn't it already been obvious to you? Only the short term traders ever made it big and appeared in the news: Jesse Livermore, CIS, Takashi Kotegawa, etc.

Warren Buffett is probably the only long term trader I know. But is this what you really want to do, spend 30 years or more amassing your fortune instead of a quick decade?

You will be lucky IF you only LOSS everything AFTER a decade. Most day traders don't last more than a year or after 2 to 3 thousands trade. Figure out how we know this number.

That wasn't the point. The point is a lot of traders don't make it big by betting on the longer time time. The Japanese trader that went by the name of CIS made $34M from the most recent market crash within a few days!

I am not sure what is your motivation to promote this kind of thinking, but you do know the chance that you (or anyone) that want to achieve the CIS result will be almost zero, this is no different than buying lottery and wish for the best. You are likely loss ALL you money eventually.

Long term investment won't make you super rich, but in 10 years tine it at least will make your life better than those losers in day trading.

The problem in short term traders (especially the day trader) is they always though that they are smarter and luckier than other 99.999% traders and they will make a big killing in trading in 10 years time
