Which Caribbean Island to move to

They speak English, and follow british style law.

As far as British Common Law vs. Napoleonic Law, if you don't do anything wrong, you've got nothing to worry about. The fact that Cozumel is an island whose only real industry is tourism, there is virtually no crime. Not to mention that if you do something minor wrong (say driving while intoxicated) a well placed 200 peso note will get you out of that jam. Or so I'm told. Good Luck.

Jamaica isnt that bad. You are allowed to have a licensed m-16 machine gun . Armunition is easy to get . keeps the exctiment up when you retire.

Nothing related to the topic, but is Barbados nice ? I will cross the ocean from Capo Verde in december on my fathers' sailing boat and probably spend one week in Barbados... Thanks for advice... We can still change direction from Africa( LOL )... Barbados is the closest.

this is true. I have lived in the DR. Crime is pretty bad. nothing happened to me while there, but i heard some nasty stories. The place is just really poor, which makes it such a great bargain.

Thanks for FYI. This was confirmed to me when relatives went on vacation in DR. They said it looked dangerous to leave the resort after dark. I can hold my own, but would never move to area where I would have to worry about my wife walking for short distances alone at night.

It's kind of like when a buddy went to Sandals in Jamaica for a honeymoon. This was 5 years ago. He said there plane was met by military escort with machine guns on top. No thanks.

And unless things have changed in DR Andy on this forum stated that power and internet prevented one from day trading.

How about the upcoming Isla de Cuba:

1. (Reported) Low crime for the time being
2. Plenty of things to do if you carry enough "fulas" with you at all times.
3. Plenty of educated people. They even export them. But please first define success and then I am sure you'll find some!
4. Hey ....

And to trade all you need is a mobile phone, certainly now that they are legal, and a good stash of car batteries (accumulators) to run your also now legal personal computer.

- its Spain
- weather is great all year
- no hurricanes
- no crime
- international airports
- language : spanish, but english too due to tourism
- local girls, and tourists
- infrastructure good due to hotels
- few hours by plane from main european capital : Madrid, Paris, Berlin etc...
- paradise for sports : golf, surf, windsurf, diving, fishing, etc...

What you want more ?
