Comical. The only thing the Chinese actually fear is the US military. The Russians tried to release a bunch of propaganda comparing their soldiers to women and transgender women soldiers in the US then they went into Ukraine and got their “best” obliterated. Duck around and find out.
The US has real strength. All of those transgender service women are well trained and some of the deadliest people on earth. And you wish that wasn’t true.
Just to be clear, the US military is the strongest today than it’s ever been. That’s in actual strength and relative strength.
The US military, while extensive, has easily exploitable vulnerabilities discussed by Russians and Chinese in the media. While the US has hardened its supply chain to some extent, we are still open to a devastating coordinated strike by their special forces. Mike Pompeo recently tweeted his concern about "CCP" countries buying US farmland, often within close proximity to US Military bases. Washington thinktank, the Rand Corporation, says while US nuclear submarines would likely remain mostly intact against a first strike, command and control would likely to be compromised as satellites will be the first casualty of war, potentially reducing US response effectiveness. The orbiting debris field created by destroyed satellites will likely prevent return our to space for generations, degrading communications, navigation, weather prediction, and intelligence. This assumes enough resources remain to return to space in the first place. A full scale war between major powers will involve more than nuclear weapons. The combined effect of the use of multiple WMD types is difficult to project. Likely, there would be an amplification effect resulting in not just physical affects, but potentially adverse cultural effects, potentially stalling or destroying potential long term recovery efforts.
While it is a national pass-time to criticize global leaders, the one thing these leaders must get right is to avoid reaching the "Commitment threshold", where either side is one decision away from making the ultimate counter-productive decision. Fortunately, Putin, Biden, and Xi appear to have family members and country they care about. Unfortunately, these leaders will not live forever, opening the door to new generations of leaders that, given signs of increasing cultural regression within major powers, may open the door to one of their successors doing something really stupid, especially when their leadership position is being challenged by any number of opponents, both internal and external.
Maintaining persistently high geopolitical tensions is like constantly rolling the dice on humanity's fate. Sooner or later, snake eyes will come up. Really a shame we are taking chances on our relevance when global resources are still in plentiful supply, with technology further opening up quality of life possibilities for all inhabitants of this planet.
In the end, our species will likely achieve what we are designed for. If history is any guide, we may want to critically review our belief systems together, tone down our dangerous rhetoric, actions, and especially make considerable effort to understand the other side's perspective.
