I'm not sure I follow your point here. My point is what will happen after Trump is gone. The differences between now and the future are debatable. I will give you that. My point is that you will have Republicans trying to mimic Trump in his communication style long after he is gone. You won't see many Jeb Bush and John McCain types in the future.

His point is Trump is no original. A superficial understanding of history would tell you that there have been countless populist charlatans with hateful rhetoric before him.

My point is that Trump says whatever he has to say to sell himself in the moment, he is not a man with a plan, he is not someone interested in technicalities of things and a 2000 mile long is a technical nightmare. It's an impractical idea to begin with, the only way it's feasible is to to have Mexico build most of it on their side of the border while taking a lot of land from southerners citing eminent domain. That itself would take years of work and they haven't started at all other than posting fake photographs on Twitter.
The solution is something technical, this isn't medieval China for concrete walls but ofcourse smart solutions is not something you expect from Trump, everything has to be crude and in the face like his hotels. Guy once tried to fit marble toilets on his airplanes and people had to explain why that's a stupid idea. You get the hint.
