Where does "Private Equity" get the money to do these huge buyouts?

A private equity firm tends to purchase a going concern or something of value. In other words, they don't have to keep buying/selling entities to make money, they purchase a business that generates cash flow from it's business function.

Not all PE teams are created equal...it's up to the investor to decide who is the real deal and who isn't.

:D

Quote from The Greeks:

I agree that the gravy train has to end. Private equity firms are trendy right now, just like hedge funds were a few years ago. However, just like hedge funds, you will eventually have too many firms chasing too few deals, and the bottom will fall out of the private equity market.

Given the current growth rate, it looks like we are approaching that point of equilibrium.

The money will come when you've got Dumya in your pocket. Cerberus hires Snow > Cerberus buys all the coated paper business it can > Dumya declares coated-paper tariffs against China.
