Where does one work after trading?

Quote from jinxu:

What's the E-file system and how does it work? I never heard of it before.

It's not E-File but E-Verify. What it does is give a very rough history from that persons past employment. The word rough is a understatement.

Employers take that information and see if some of it matches the resume. Most of the info is pulled from filing your taxes. So there is a lot of room to say what you want on your resume.

Here is the info on E-Verify

This career has no guarantees.

I am a futures trader at a prop firm for 2 years and have been consistently profitable. I've had consistently green months, and I never ever have any sort of ego such that I wouldn't consider putting it away in the bank or diversifying investments.
This is a tough job and don't for a second think your career will be forever.

I have known guys at my firm who have traded for 15 years (there were two of them) who didn't make a single cent for 12 months and decided to call it quits.

This isn't a secure job. It's high-pay, with tremendously high-risk. Everyone knows it, so why not put your money to the side?

+1.

All those traders who have had a few mere years of experience in profitable trading, think they have "got" it forever and act like a guru dispensing their wisdom should read these words VERY carefully.

Roll profits into real estate investments that pay out a steady cash flow. It doesn't matter what happens to the price of the investment overtime as long as it produces cash flow-- 10 houses @ $700,000.00 nets about $7000 per month FOREVER and rent usually only goes higher little by little---- there, you built yourself a lower middle class income without working-- THINK, don't work! this is including managment costs and occasional issues not covered by insurance. surf

PS-- potential apprieciation is also a possibility-- sell the houses and cash out again if needed. prices drop, you are still netting 10% per year

+1 there is no reason not to do this. This is hedging your future. Making sure that you do not have to get a job if you suddenly cant make any money in the market. I can't Imagine someone who pulls in 500k a year in the market not putting this into real estate.

Well I bet everyone who was ever successful in trading at any time thought they "got it forever" at that point in time.

Tell me about it. I was reading this earlier today:

Half the response are from people who say they do nothing but surf the internet all day and get pay pretty decent for it too. They probably probably even wrote in from work. In my department I suspect I'm doing the majority of the work in my team. I can't prove it but I feel like it.

you may be surprised to know that all these jobs are not needed and are direct equivalent of public servant job in EU. funny thing is that these made up jobs are outsourced in india.

jobs are also used as a weapon. us got a deal with india, something like that: we give you 20M jobs, you give us india :)

fallinnng apart....
