Quote from hedgeking:
don people come to bright for lower per share costs? you got to be kidding me. bright has the highest commission rates of any prop outfit in america. for instance your lowest rate are .004 and if i'm not mistaken thats for shares over 1k? you keep talking about leverage etc. 90% of the people ont his board are day or intra day swing traders so they don't hold overnight. if i'm doing 2-4 million shares a month i can get commisons of .0015 or less per share with genesis and save 7-10k a month commissions over what bright charges. First off, simply not true - based on the many (very many) who have come over here the last few months from other firms...(and I have sheets from our few real competitors) - and......
Once again, I find it interesting that some people talk about one single aspect of a trading firm relationship. Our Firm caters to traders at all levels of the game, from the newer people, who trade less, but are hoping to involve themselves with serious, successful traders (receive training and career guidance), and at the other extreme, already successful (high volume) traders who negotiate a fair deal on commissions and other factors.
These traders, who are not simply "day traders" (not many of these types left, since the days of higher volatility are over), prefer to have the capital usage, availabilty of short stock (with a good interest rate on their short stock sales), liquidity pools, etc.
We do our best to provide the whole package, with the safety and security that most traders seek (and for good reason).
The traders bottom line is what is important. Traders at some of the "bargain basement" shops wouldn't be able to make money at zero commissions (not due to their lack of ability, but due to things mentioned above, use of capital, training, short stock availabiltiy and interest rates, mentoring, and all the rest).
The "proof is in the pudding" - we have some of the best traders on the planet, both new and highly experienced. If the overall program that we offer was not superior, these highly skilled and profitable people would not be here. I am willing to compare our traders success with those anywhere. I am very proud of our team of talent (who, by the way, "could" choose to trade anywhere, and yet choose to be with us). Don't be fooled by deception and/or misleading information.
If there are still "video game player" types out there, who are happy making pennies, and think that they are "making more, by paying less" then fine....we'll be here when they're ready to move up.
You can trade for free at Bank of America (might want to do some due diligence on why, LOL).
All the best,
Don
