Well the progressive Durham City council does not give a damn about public safety. Let's take a look at our Durham 911 call center fiasco. This was directly caused by the progressive city council under-funding the 911 Call Center for years and not replacing staff that left. At the same time they managed to find tens of millions of dollars to spend on low income housing and other pet initiatives.
Well to start with the Durham 911 center was so badly understaffed in mid-2021 that they needed to shift the calls to Raleigh... which did not work out very well.

Even when they stopped shifting calls -- the situation was still a disaster. At least when Raleigh was answering the calls they would get picked up.
