When Indicators Don't Lag

Not to take the thread off track, but my dad made a hell of a lot of money (hundreds of thousands of pounds) about 10 years ago copying the trades of someone he met on MSN messenger! (going back a while! do people still use that?)
I sometimes wonder what happened to that trader. It was a female called 'Sarah'. For all I know, she is on this site!

why not put a thread called "searching for Sarah?" with explanations.
Just so you now, some "females" ( and their "backers") use ET as a way to find "pigeons", so it is usually best to stick to trading strictly.

what is your win rate over 300 trades?

I don't post exact figures anymore. I said it was >80%, and then the bashers came.

What is more important I think is: how much of your profits do you give back in losing trades? Because making profits is important, but keeping the profits is more important.

In the long term I give back around 5% of my profits. I can preserve 95% of my profits.

Bashers are , I have learned, part of some "culture" within the trading people.
The key is to identify them, engage with them for entertainment or - even better get your girlfriend as she is a psychology professional to distract them.

Your losing trades : what is the average tick loss vs average tick win?
how long do you keep a trade on?

I was just curious, but not enough to bother trying to actively find her.
i'd go into my dads office, I'd see the little messenger pop up on his screen and 'Sarah' had just written ''going long ES here at 1050, should be on way to 1070 now'' and then my dad would buy 15 contracts or so and just wait for her next message, lol.
He turned his 40k or so account into 300k+ in a fairly short amount of time.

I am going to call your bluff :
That many years ago, she would have been known all over the place.

Now, I think a thread called " promoting Sarah" would be great on ET.
I think traders loved coming to ET so as to discuss trading ( all aspects),
and many would simply go to ...( place names) to find "Sarah" and "Jennifer" and "Anna" and etc... but now the "females" are desperate.
Ah the good old days, where one did not have to post without thinking about being
a hunted "pigeon". Damn!!! How times change.
Now, I like separating trading places from "personal" places where we can meet
some "sarah, jennifer, anna, etc..." and so on. Just going now to such places! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Take care.

In your view, is there any positive reason for someone to take someone's else calls - with real money?
Or this is a totally absolutely useless set of actions, with zero possible benefits?

Depends on whether or not there is an educational component. Some trading rooms, for example, include education. Some are nothing more than calls. I was lucky enough to happen onto the former in '98 when I was first exploring futures. The woman told us exactly what to look for, what the entry signal would be, tracked price with us as it approached the signal, told us when the signal was triggered, suggested stop placement, tracked price with us until the move was ended. Anyone with moderate intelligence who worked with her could pick this up relatively quickly and "graduate". She was also the person who introduced me to Wyckoff, Magee, Douglas, Mamis, and Dunnigan.

Calls made on message boards, on the other hand, unless they're made in advance, are useless.

I agree. The culture was very different in the 90s. I don't recall encountering trolls at all until after the internet bubble burst. Not hard to figure out why.

Bashers came when you said one of your setups is 100%!
