It's not a comparison that should be lightly made, but with all the benefits of free speech you end up hearing some things you don't like.
I've said for a long time that the one sided portrayal of Hitler as evil from childhood isn't the best way to stop a new one from coming along. He was a skilled politician who impressed the masses with his war record and patriotism, knew how to work a crowd and skillfully exploited (very real) fears of communism among the wealthy and middle classes. The next Hitler won't work his way to the top promising genocide, either. Like Trump, he'll have crowd-pleasing qualities that blind the masses to any nagging concerns.
There are stylistic analogies between Trump and the Hitler of the early 1930s. The masses like seeing Trump abuse the political class, like the German masses liked seeing a corporal, someone of their own class, placed above the generals and other relics of the landed aristocracy. But the times and issues are far different, and there is a big difference between analogies to the 1930 Hitler who was working his way into the heart of the people and ones to the 1940 dictator who led Europe into ruin.
