When are we going to wise up and call the health care industry the SCAM that it is

Quote from ByLoSellHi:

With massive numbers of people losing employer provided health insurance, physicians and the medical community are about to be in for a very rude awakening.

I have an extremely good friend who is a doc, and he said they don't even bother sending out billings statements once the bill has gone unpaid for 90 days or more now. They just write it off.

I feel no sorrow for doctors in the US. most are part of the system and think they are entitled to 300K/year because they are DOCTORS!

Even the people of E.Europe had free health insurance and why would they walk, their transportation system was very cheap and bus service just as good.

yes, they had free insurance but this didn't prevent the cancers...believe me there was lots of walking :)

Quote from saxon22:

As for the junk food and no exercise, most E. European are fit and the women and their long legs..... Let's not even go there. [/B]
that's right, so I guess bless our DNA :D

Quote from saxon22:

Food is a major reason for being healthy or not. Having said that I think it is the preventive medicine where the cure is at. Why do you think people eat this junk? Have they ever been to a doctor who would explain them the dangers of eating pizza for breakfast? And I mean sit down and spend more tan 5 minutes explaining and talking. Do most people know the destruction hypretension does to their bodies? The list goes on.

I couldn't agree more

Whatever it is, DNA food, air. I do not know but a lot of women in E. Europe are super pretty, intelligent and fun. Czech, Polish and Ukrainian being the top 3, but the former Yugoslavians are not too shabby either.

On that note, need to go to sleep. :D :D :D

Why do you think they put up that "Iron Curtain"?

I really don't have any problem with med schools only taking the best of the best and requiring 90's to get in. When they start to practice anything less then 100 can kill people.

Anyone that can pull an 80+ average in the hard sciences, over 4 years at a good school, then get board certified after Med graduation, is fine for GP.

I suppose you like paying 500$ a month for your health insurance too?

Quote from karol88:

I'm from Europe, and I'm shocked by the amount of illnesses people have here...and right now the only explanation I have is the lifestyle, food etc....however I'm open to other suggestions/studies as long as they make sense.

China has been poisoning America for decades with air pollution, lead in toys, and other things not known as of yet.

As far as people getting fat, it is now a GLOBAL phenomenon. I believe 1.5 billion on this planet are now overweight. Obviously not all of these are American. There are fat people everywhere, in all countries eating right now. Getting fatter, like pigs getting ready for slaughter.

Quote from karol88:

to me the health care industry is a SCAM. I refuse to pay health insurance. the money I saved over the years by not paying it is more than enough to cover any expenses I might have in the future (but I also don't have kids, if I did that would be a different story). I visit a doctor maybe once a year and it cost me far less than paying $300 a month for insurance...I also refuse to take most prescription drugs because they do more harm than good...not to mention the cost. You would be surprised how many illnesses you can avoid just by eating healthy & regular exercise.

At the very least I'd urge you to get catastrophic coverage. You have no idea how expensive a chronic illness truly turns out to be. I was way under insured when I got sick and it nearly broke the bank, and I had an ok sized bank.
