What's your definition of TA?

Whoa! That's "right up there" among the MOST STUPID COMMENTS I'VE HEARD IN A LONNNNNNG TIME.

I can't believe how mean your post is. Are you like this with everyone that you don't agree with or just with anonymous people on the Internet? How would you feel if someone you loved was spoken to like that?

It's no secret I'm new to the world of trading, that does not mean I'm stupid, it just means I have got a lot to learn.

:(

Besides you didn't make a comment, you asked a question. And it wasn't a stupid question.

I think he is having a bad day, don"t recall him being part of the all-time asshole list.

Sorry you took offense. Your statement was contradictory within itself. Tell me you're a relative of Yogi Berra, and that will explain everything.

I apologize for my harsh words. I should have asked if you noticed the contradiction.

You might want to look at his post again. It was a question (not a statement) and it was meant to probe the contradiction you point out. He simply asked this: "IF ta is useless for predicting future price moves, [THEN] why do so many advocate it?"

If TA is useless for predicting future price moves why do so many advocate it?

Don't sweat it.

Up the Irons!

You did it again, before with Soros.
If a big name agrees with your views then he's obviously right, if he disagrees then he has an ulterior motive. You always win, eh?

Agree with everything except where you say urf always wins

His last sentence was sarcasm. Or perhaps more appropriately, scorn. Surf always tries to have it both ways, so long as he comes out ahead. Not logical, not mature and not persuasive, but that's our surf.

It was me and I define it as I defined it in that thread you referenced:

Technical Analysis is about deriving prediction and current state of price levels purely from past prices and possibly volume as well or a combination thereof. This contrasts with any other kind of "Quantitative Analysis" does not put such constraint on its definition and may also derive inputs from fundamental factors or economic statistical releases or news.

Someone mentioned a 'definition of TA' in another thread. I thought such a thread might be of interest, rather than the usual 'TA works/doesn't work' type. But will surely lead to that!
