Whats with the screens?

I'm an options trading novice. I was cruising the internet the other day and viewed a website for an options trading firm located in Chicago. It had a picture of some dude sitting at a desk with like 8 computer screens in front of him. What do all the screens do? What kind of software are they running on those computers? Thx and have a good weekend.
 
It depends on what options you're trading. If you're covering 8 different equities, for example, having 8 monitors might be useful to show a few charts of various timeframes, depth of market, order entry window, etc. for each one.

No matter what I'm trading, I have one monitor with the S&P daily, S&P weekly, 10-year notes daily, crude oil daily.

If I'm actively involved in ags, I'll have corn, wheat, soy, oats on another monitor.
