What's the skinny on Generic trading

Quote from jlcarey1:

Kantor retired??

Is that a sign about the trading industry or did he retire for personal reaons??

I can't speak for Bob, but I'm pretty sure he can do whatever he pleases...my personal opinion is that he has planning this a long time.

He and my brother speak from time to time, and respect each other as businessmen....

Are the people nice, is management easy to talk to or are they like corporate staright or boring. I am looking for sort of a fun environment to trade.

Although I don't trade with them, I know one of the managers of the Boca office. He is a trader himself and is probably one of the top ones today. They have a lot of talented people working there, environment is very good, and everyone is very friendly.

Generic was not as competitive commission wise as

some of the other firms ...

perhaps their traders are willing to give more profits
to the firm as the info they get from Myer is worth it?

Quote from Don Bright:

FNY is not really our competitor....ETG's Mr. Kantor is pretty much retired.

I have not heard much from Hold for quite a while....but they never really showed up on our radar (maybe good for them, lol).

I'm just commenting on the firms that are in the multi-billions of shares on the NYSE ....those are who we consider "competitors".....

This doesn't mean that there aren't other good firms......

And Schonfeld/Spectrum?

And Schonfeld/Spectrum?

To be sure, Steve Schonfeld has a very strong reptutaion and Firm...and I respect both he and his Firm. The primary difference is that they chose the "employee" model primarily over the years, and therefore they are in a different segment of our business.

Things change, as we all know.
