What's the point of all the trade calls on this site?

That's a good point. I read a post by some imaginary trader who said why would you trade if you don't know how markets work? Same could be said for sites like this. Why would you come on here and just assume you are interacting with other traders? Even the sponsors know that 99% of the posts on this site are content marketers with fake handles that drive morsels of recurring traffic here for clicks and impressions. But you know the old saying. 100 pennies makes a pound!

If you spend time on ET and read the posts you'll come to the conclusion there are real traders on here. As to sorting out trader from pretender and marketer that's on you, learn to read between the lines.

I noticed there are a lot of traders on elitetrader posting their trades without rationale, charted entries and exits, or statements. I'm just curious what's in it for them? What's in it for us?

Has today's trader advanced from the stochastics and MA indicators of the golden years of trading? My thought is it's because there are green light opportunities to anticipate volatility and no need to predict if it's a buy or sell. It can be both.

Who cares if people post trades? I think its fun.
And no, the golden days of stochastics and T/A and fundamental analysis have not gone by the wayside. Just because someone posts an intraday trade without 10 charts and analysis doesn't mean that behind the scenes they haven't done that.
Volatility merely provides an opportunity timing wise (ie intuition) to pounce on a certain stock that one has already done homework on.
When you hear a song on the radio you don't think about the 100's of hours of takes, retakes, and editing that go into it do ya? No. You enjoy the song.
So quit bitching and enjoy the music.

There are so many fake handles that the site administrators created that they are able to bully anything a 'real person' says right out of the building (see almost every response above). Much like how mainstream media operates.

A better analogy is the 'real person' on this site is surrounded by a table full of 'teammates' working together like the golden days of online poker.
