Wha'ts the maximum size you can day trade?

OK but I was told by a ES trader the maximum size he can trade with good liquidity is 100 contracts? Is this right?

I guess there has to be balance where your size starts affecting your % returns. You have to find where this is.

Are there any day trading hedge funds? What size do they trade and what markets?

Only 100 contracts on ES is BS. Look at the ES DOM yourself. This is a slow summer Friday afternoon and the 1 tick market is running 300 by 300 to 500 by 500.

It's not hwat I have but what I want to get upto?

7 figures+ day trading..... >7% per month. Possible?

This depends on how much money you have, and what your intentions are.

Q) Why is it on here no matter what you post you always get some negative "trolls" trying to start a flame? This forum used to be alot better than this.

Still thanks for most of the replies.

For the size you are talking about you need a rather significant sized account. You can literally make (or lose) many millions per day in ES or ZN. But you will need 7 or 8 figures in an account (these days anyway) before a firm will even touch you (of course after you've proven yourself)

Mate...really I do know..LOL I know all about ES contract sizes etc...I've been tradin g stocks (granted not ES) since 1995

What I was saying was shifting more than 100+ contraxts on the ES is no problem? What about 200?

LOL gotta laugh

Dude, I don't think you realze the difference bwt 1000 shares of stock vrs 100 ES lots. Trading 1000 shares of stock can earn someone probably 1-2K a day (generalizing here). A 100 lot ES trader can make 10's of thousands a day.

Don't confuse 1000 shares as being more than 100 ES lots. Its not even close.

and no, you can trade more than 100 lots easy in ES, liquidity is usually always there, except in extreme market moves or major news.

you've been trading for 13 years but can't get past 1000 shares and 150k?

Big difference between can't and didn't want to....plus I have made my living from this. Didn't say I was successful from day one did I?

Why the hostility? You do not know my circumstances....nor do I know nor care about yours. I aksed a genuine question no need to resort to this.

1000 ES is ok? Wow first time I have heard this.

So day trading ES with many millions is fine? Everyone else told me 100- 150 contracts was just about doable.

What about Tnotes....how liquid are they?

Keep in mind that liquidity is not constant during the day. Around 10 this morning ES was trading more than 15,000 contracts a minute and at lunch time less than 2,000 contracts a minute.

That 15,000 contracts a minute is not done by trading 10 lots.

OK I understand this... But I guess 300+ isn't a problem then?

Again are there any ES day trading Hedge Funds? I mean you should be able to trade $3M+?

Have you ever tried to make a living on $150,000 trading account? House, family, taxes..not much left.

You either know how it is or you don't and simply wan to fight. So lets end it now.

Why didn't you want to make money money?

i'm not being hostile i am just trying to figure out why you are even asking these questions. you don't come close to trading this kind of size. is it just general curiousity? i mean i figure you would know what kind of liquidity is present in the markets after 13 years of trading. even you didn't know it's not that hard to look at a chart and see. i am just confused...
