what's the benefit of prop vs retail?

This is a free market so no one to blame but yourself if you are in a firm that pays out monthly. Plenty of firms pay out weekly, just look around. If you keep banging your head into a wall, its time to own up and stop blaming the wall.

Too many good reputable props out there to be "stuck" with a deal you are not happy with unless you got no capital... then you should be at their mercy.

Yes Don you are right, once a week payout GREAT. One should be able to survive that long.

However, some of these Prop firms seem to treat traders bad and do not allow trader fairly quick payouts on his own money.

Its the traders money, he made it, Prop firm should be glad trader made money, give the man his money next week, hope/pray trader can continue to make money. BUT do not hold traders money he made an ENTIRE MONTH.

It sounds like you want a trading environment just for a different setting...in which case you could turn your garage into an office to accomodate a group of traders.

Very funny, Go ahead do it, you will be very lucky not to find everything stolen or group of cats and mice shiting or nesting on your set-up

I put through around 6 million shares a month, paying 10 bucks a trade, not too bad. I use a bonded T1 (3mb/s) for network access.

10 bucks a trade ? And this is aprop account your are trading from? !0$ a trade is even terrible for a retail account.

Am I missing something ?

I got a great home office, it was a suggestion for yourself. I have a cat, and as long as he doesn't jump on my desk he's all the company i need :)

I've traded in an office before...i'll go back at some point, but there's no need at the present.

It's just a retail account with Questrade. 10 bucks isn't bad considering my average position is around 20,000 shares.

I don't touch penny stocks, most stocks I trade are at least $40.
