What's Next?

i am afraid that even though i am eating super healthy i have come to the conclusion i still need to get up and do some exercise.

i don't have time for a gym and so i am looking for something easy on my knees that i can do spending no more than 60-45 minutes every other day or am i dreaming?

You + any need exercise. I aim to walk @ least 5-7 hours a week + usually exceed that. Sometimes in the coldest winter week I may miss that .
Also we got to walk a lot as kids, so I enjoy that walking. I seldom even park close to the store door unless it's raining.[Running on concrete/blacktop maybe bad for knees??]
 
Personally, I don't have time to not go to the gym. Unless you live in a very rural area, I can't imagine there not being a gym close by.
I have a decent home setup with a power rack but it still not a gym. Even at some point you need to change gyms for new stimulus.
I would even go as far as to say happiness itself in the 21st century is a side effect of new and varying stimulus of all different types on the body.
If I wanted to cause myself to be miserable I would just do the same things over and over and over.
 
Have you never changed gyms before? I have been going to gyms for 40 years now and nothing adds stimulus like a new gym. I have probably been a member of about 20 gyms in my life and every gym has a few pieces of gear that are awesome.
Even the variability in squat racks, dumbbells, bar types is so much between gyms.
Hell, even if you just deadlift there is huge variability in the floor space set aside to deadlift.

Louie Simmons on his podcast said he would buy a new tshirt to work out in when he was getting stale just to add some new stimulus.

This is the problem with a home gym is it will get stale unless you keep adding to it. If there is a first principal with lifting it is the law of accommodation. Over time, you get a decreasing response to the same stimulus.

Why would you need to change gyms to change stimulus? Different exercise, different rep scheme, heavy/light programs.

There's a hundred ways to fool the muscle that doesn't involve changing gyms. Mostly that's a change of scenery, different people, which is fine but if you don't change gyms it will not impede your training.

(btw I've been lifting since 1972)

I stopped all carbonated drinks first, I was addicted to Dr. Pepper's no doubt.
Then I finally got it in my head to stop eating fried foods of any kind.
Kicking candy bars was easy cause they cost too much.

When I lived in the city I bicycled but after these changes in diet not much happened.
Moved to the country can't bike roads to dangerous.
Wound up with high blood pressure somehow, did some self examination of lifestyle.
Decided I was getting off this high blood pressure medicine somehow.

Next was to kick all salt / sodium which I did no problem. I am very low sodium.
Decided if I kicked all caffeine of every type maybe that would fix me, but didn't.
I decided bread was my enemy so I have stopped all white fillers of any kind.

BOOM - after 3 weeks of being off bread, rice, pasta etc. I was removed off high blood pressure medication.

Basically I have a rule if it's not natural food, I don't eat it. Also I stay away from as much grease as I can.

Now I eat meat, vegetables of all type, eggs, nuts etc.

What's Next? I have one last thing to kick that I am having the hardest time with SUGAR.

I don't eat cakes, pies, cookies, etc. very often but I like hot tea (decaf) with refined sugar each day. I drink my coffee black.

I am stating all this because after I KICKED BREAD, I felt alive again, I am not hungry at all, I am losing weight without exercise, I am super energetic! I am off my high blood pressure medicine, nothing I tried every worked till I stopped bread.


You were drinking carbonated drinks and Dr. Pepper's, tea with sugar, eating fried food, bread, salt and candy bars?

When was this? Was it when you were about 12?

Sounds like you meant ''refined'' white bread[ not a racial statement,LOL] Mark; the whole grain/12 grain /23 grain is much different/better . The refined white flour turns to sugar quick + has no or low fiber...............................................................................

I have not watched this for a while and everything must be taken skeptically, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, as I recall there is a piece here where he goes into the issue of why all bread is hard on your system, because all of us have or potentially have "leaky gut" problems and all bread is the worst culprit and that whole grain etc. may be even worse.

I don't have an opinion on it and am just flopping this out here as a pointer to an additional view on that. Just sayin that if you have found that cutting out bread has definite positive results, I would treat that as a gift from the gods, and not frig around with it by thinking that it is just a matter of needing to eat whole grain bread or whatever. At least without doing some more experimentation.

I don't necessarily agree with all of his views here. I pretty much agree on his cheerleading for olive oil as long as it is real high quality olive oil and I pretty much disagree on his views on the consumption of beans, which he disses bigtime. He leans over backwards to point out that the consumption of olive oil is extremely high in so-called blue zones, regions of very high longevity, but as I recall the consumption of various beans is absolutely associated with many high longevity groups.

Anyway...
