Nobody gives a shit about his drinking unrelated to lying about it and the potential for him being blackout drunk.

Of course he's not. Suddenly, drinking beer when you're in college is a criminal act, holy shit. The level of delusion is reaching critical mass, the event horizon - whatever you want to call it.
Bullshit. There are plenty of people who do if they drink say whiskey or tequila and avoid them or some certain combo. I have only blacked out a bit twice and that was from really overdoing it with beer, wine and brandy (rum the other time) then smoking weed on top.
I got sick in my bed in LA and painted myself and the beach in Sri Lanka. No combining weed and mixed drinks.
