Given that the trend is already down but barely any move on high volume, somebody stands ready to buy the big dumps, either at the open or close. It's called Accumulation. There are technical indicators for that.

Ok that helps. Not sure why but your broker M2 chart varies a lot (both bars and volume) from my TradeStation chart.
