What would life be like with a worthless dollar?

Thats not really a fair statement, since most people even in the US do not know how to run a business anyway. 90% of all small business in the US fail in the first 5 years.

And I think Americans have got so lazy that they would not be able to survive if they had to get out there and work 12 hours just to earn enough money to buy food and have a buck or two left over. I seriously think a HUGE number would resort to theft to make ends meet.

if you dont believe me, go out today and find 10 people and ask if they have ever stolen anything in their lives. Out of the 10 people...9 will tell you yes and 1 will lie to you. And this is in America, the land of milk & honey! If people are stealing here when things are good, imagine if things got really bad.

Exactly what I have been thinking. We americans are spolied with too much for too cheap and of we lose it there will be a civil war. Wait and see

Nope. No civil war, just anarchy.
The avg. American is both too ignorant and lazy to organize anything of importance, let alone stick with it.
The riots will be in waves, usually at night, after the non-producers haven't found enough to eat while foraging trash piles in the daylight.

Then "they' will deploy troops, and set up the FEMA camps.

hear hear.

I have worked with third world ''countries on a regular basis.

Let me clarify my point.

Just because you are from the third world doesnt mean you have a third world mentality and vice versa.

Most third worlders migrate to escape that reality

My point was the structures that exist in the third world.

High Corruption, low trust perpatute a particular mindset. The fuck you first before you fuck me mindset. If you don't have this mindset you wont survive.

This isnt just my loony theory it
s a reality

This mentality has been coming too the U.S. unfortunately for some time.

The old example of how in some parts of the U.S. you can still pump gas and pay later.

But my original statement stands.

It's the people who havent done business on a regular basis with Third world countries that don't understand where I am coming from

It's not a racist statement either its understanding of societal differences

This is why also I say that we are in a political crisis not an economic crisis

I don't disagree that 1st world countries bear some responsibility for the problems in the third world.

Highly recommend reading

Trust: The Social Virtues and The Creation of Prosperity

Fukuyama (The End of History and the Last Man, LJ 1/92) examines the impact of culture on economic life, society, and success in the new global economy. He argues that the most pervasive cultural characteristic influencing a nation's prosperity and ability to compete is the level of trust or cooperative behavior based upon shared norms. In comparison with low-trust societies (China, France, Italy, Korea), which need to negotiate and often litigate rules and regulations, high-trust societies like those in Germany and Japan are able to develop innovative organizations and hold down the cost of doing business. Fukuyama argues that the United States, like Japan and Germany, has been a high-trust society historically but that this status has eroded in recent years. This well-researched book provides a fresh, new perspective on how economic prosperity is grounded in social life. Highly recommended for academic libraries.

Australia's dollar fell to 49c against US a few years back - the lowest it had ever gone. People got really scared. But this is what happened.

It became really expensive to go on overseas holidays, so people holidayed locally instead.

Imported goods became more expensive so people started buying Australian.

Australia's produce became cheaper so more people from oveseas started buying it. Exports rose.

All this created jobs.

America's dollar will go down, but it isn't all bad.
Good things will come of it.

The worst thing that might happen is that you won't be able to upgrade your plasma TV for a while.
