Treat the chart like a computer game, as others have said the price action does different things at different times for a reason.

Find the pattern or reason, and wait until it becomes boring and predictable.
 
But the turtles didn’t do well afterwards due to the market changes. Although the principles hold true one needs to constantly adjust to the ever evolving market.

Richard Dennis made like $200 million from the Turtles when he was done with them. Most of them had lucrative careers afterwards. There is always a major trend somewhere. The strongest and weakest sectors change. All you need is to find it and trade it.
