What Voter Fraud? - Mexican Citizen Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison After Illegally Voting In Texas

Rosa Ortega, a Mexican citizen, has been convicted of voter fraud and sentenced to 8 years in prison in Texas after inadvertently admitting to election officials that she had been voting in Dallas County for years. Apparently the voting fraud was discovered by chance after Ortega tried to register to vote in Tarrant County but was rejected after she admitted that she was not actually a citizen of the United States. While she should have probably just accepted the rejection, Ortega pushed back by arguing that she had already been voting in Dallas County, an argument that drew the attention of investigators.

Im all for stomping out voter fraud, and i believe it actually exists, albeit on a much smaller scale than Trump has claimed, but 8 years for voter fraud seems pretty extreme IMO. Its not like these people are involed in some kind of insidious plot to overthrow the government, most likely this woman was just convinced by a bunch of left wing activists to sign up to vote and so she did it.

There are people who dont even get jail time for beating the shit out of their wife, so it seems pretty harsh in my eyes that this woman gets 8 years, especially when she was most likely just a very naieve person who got duped in too doing it by leftwing operatives.

Agree about 8 years being excessive. If she's a Mexican citizen, she should be deported. Perhaps serve a bit of prison time as an example to others, then deported?

yeah, i really hope the judge was just trying to prove a point and they just commute the sentence and kick her out of the country, I can see why the judge needed to say that this is intolerable, but 8 years for voter fraud seems a bit harsh, there is people who get less time for manslaughter.

She should be immediately deported so that the taxpayers incur no further cost for her, and she should be permanently banned from the US. I have no problem with the harsh sentence if they don't boot her immediately, as that could be a great deterrent. The fact the a domestic abuser got little or no time is a completely separate issue.

More voter fraud...

Court convicts Haywood man of double voting

A Haywood County man has been convicted of voting twice in the March 2016 primary.

Dewey George Gidcumb Jr., 52, was convicted of voting once during the early voting period and again in person on primary day, according to a news release from the State Board of Elections. The violation is a Class I felony.

According to the board, Gidcumb received a suspended prison sentence of five to 15 months, 12 months of supervised probation, 24 hours of community service and a $100 fine, plus court costs.

"This is a very important case for the State Board Office, as well as for the faith of citizens in our election system," Chief Investigator Joan Fleming said. "Those who choose to violate North Carolina’s election laws will face consequences."

The jury found that Gidcumb didn't make a mistake but intended to commit fraud. According to state voting records, Gidcumb is a Republican who lives in Waynesville.

North Carolina has seen a number of shifts in state voting laws. During the March primary, voter ID rules were in effect.

"One person, one vote," Haywood District Attorney Ashley Welch said. "That's what this case is about. Regardless of political views or party affiliations, the very foundations of our democracy depend on fair voting practices."

Trio indicted on voter fraud charges
A Moore County grand jury has indicted two men and a woman on felony voter fraud charges connected to the 2016 presidential election.

Dalton Shane Smith of Cameron, Edward Charles Green of Southern Pines and Ryan Wiggs of Lakeview were charged with voter registration fraud, but authorities didn't say whether they cast multiple ballots, voted in someone else's name or were otherwise ineligible to vote. Smith and Wiggs are registered Republicans, while Green is a registered Democrat. All three have been removed from the voter rolls in Moore County.

Do you think one vote will sway an election! Logically , what will happen if a lot of time and money is expended looking into voter fraud in an unbiased way, is that a small amount of fraud will be identified. It will be statistically equal on all sides. Virtually every case where the outcome may have been affected by fraud will be identified as a local or State level election were the vote was extremely close. The real danger here is that those who do the investigating will have a nefarious purpose in mind.

Right now Trump can't stand the fact that he lost the popular vote so he is not going to rest until a few illegal votes for Clinton have been ferreted out. Then we will hear voter fraud until his dying day. What's hilarious is that he was claiming voter fraud and the election was rigged right up until he won. Now he has dropped the rigged narrative and kept the fraud part. He is our first lunatic President, and hasn't it been entertaining? He doesn't know a damn thing about government, but to be a good entertainer you don't need to . What we are learning is that the government has a life of its own and goes on pretty much following its own inertia even with a deranged person in the White House. :D

Hopefully there will always be a relatively sane person nearby to keep him from doing any more absurd things, like barring Green Card holders and those with student Visas, etc., from re-entering the country!

It would be a shame if it turned out that Trump's electoral college victory was the result of voter fraud in some rural area of Pennsylvania . Then we'd be told that the voter fraud investigation was rigged!
