What "TIME" of the day do you trade Most often?

Quote from The_End:

I do 90% of my trades at the open. Most of my activity is from 9:30-9:50. If I am still holding a potion I will wait it out until 11:30.

F-Trader - is the majority of your trading still accomplished by way of position/swing trading?

Could you share some of the methods that you have used in your position trading that have made it so successful for you? TIA

I only trade Intraday (daytrading).

Very rare that I hold overnight.

I'm actually averaging around $780 a day this year with my trading. My guess is that it would be higher if I stopped trading around 11:30.

I'm going to post my Fades today before the market opens.

I trade intraday and swing. Intraday I am rarely in a trade after 12 noon EST unless we are in a major move. In the swings I could care less. When she tells me she's done moving in a direction I listen.

3:00pm CST just go long any US index future contract, place a stop, wake up around 3:00am CST and start looking for an exit. This go long strategy has been golden for the past 6 months, why slug it out with all the day traders. Remember most day traders have been brain washed to never hold positions overnight.

HANS (be careful, short covering) UP over $4.00

1/2 size because of $2.00 range on first 5 min bar (500 sh)
SS @ 51.67
Covered @ 9:45 for $2.00 gain. Stock traded thru 8 EMA (I usually cover around this level)
Stock cont to drop another $2.00 (woulda, coulda, shoulda)
Profit = $1,000

OLGR
Didn't catch in time
Would have SS @ 21.13
Stock went as low as 20.20 (potential $1 gain)

*LOJN
Never Triggered

LCRD
Never Triggered before 10am and 3rd bar broke high of day, took a pass. Stock did trigger at 10:15 but I stayed away. Stock dropped .70 if you took it.

BIIB
Triggered at 39.82 and stopped out for almost a buck, triggered by 2 lousy pennies. 1/2 size because I won't risk more than $500 trade. I got back in (1,000 shares with a Stop at 41.36, 10:25 bar) off Pennant at 10:50am at 41.66, stopped out at 11:35 for a .20 gain

Loss of $300

*FMCN
Pass, stock filled yesterdays close in first 5 min bar. I normally pass when gap fills. If you took low of first bar then you are up at least .80 (oh well)

CMTL
SS @ 33.16
Covered at 10am went bouncing off 8 EMA. Missed being stopped out by 1 penny on 3rd bar. Stop was 1 penny above HOD.
Profit of .20 (500 sh because of low volume)
Stock cont to drop thru yesterdays close, potential gain of $1.50 (ticked me off)
Profit = $100

*ISPH
Pass, stock filled gap on first bar. If you took it max gain was .30

SONS (under $5.00)
SS @ 5.27 (still holding at B/E) Stop @ 5.36. High of 2nd and 3rd bar

MACE (under $5.00)
Pass. 2nd bar broke high of 1st bar. Looking like it may make some good money though. :mad:

* = Top picks

Top picks never triggered.

So, 2 winners for $1,100 and 1 loser for $300.

$800 profit which just so happens to be my daily average.:confused:

Anyone take these trades?

Thanks for your posts. I didn't look at this thread till afternoon but my best trades are fading gap opens in NYSE stocks. I am curious how you come up with your list. do you have a scanner for stocks trading a certain percentage away from close in premarket or something? I usually use specialist indications on NYSE stocks for stocks I follow with no news to indicate an abnormally weak or strong open and than get the opening print. Unfortunately most mornings most stocks open in a normal area and I don't make any opening print trades. If you could let us know more about how you come up with your list it would be much appreciated
