Since the Arab oil embargo of the '70s, we've heard.... "we've got to have an energy policy"... yet, 40 years hence, we have none.

It's about profits. Though we are rapidly becoming energy self-sufficient, we do still import oil and sell fuel products. And of course those middle easterners are sitting on top of our oil (accidentally, to be fair).
