Quote from Rearden Metal:
Arab and Israeli sources really were reporting back then that a truce agreement between the U.S. and the insurgents was in the works.
And liberals really were claiming that Bush was going to cancel the 2004 elections, declare martial law, impose a national draft and already had concentration camps built to imprison liberals.
That still doesn't make them right. The world is full of propaganda, but repeating lies over and over does not make them true. Doesn't make them true to nonliberals, that is.
It was obvious that was not going to happen, which is why I pointed it out. I frequently take stands based on my interpretation of world events. I also post links to news stories that I suspect (but do not know) to be true. I am always ready for a news story I post to be shown to be fake.
Take the recent al-Reuters photofraud. I knew it was a fake, and was happy to take a stand that said so. It was an obvious fake. But look at the Air America is on it's last legs story. I wasn't sure, so I posted it as something I ran across. Turns out I was right on the al-Reuters, but wrong on Air America. Except I never really bought into the AA story. It could have been true, but there was no solid evidence to convince me.
There was no solid evidence to convince an objective person that we were about to cave in Iraq either. Merely stories from terribly slanted news networks. And a recent speech by POTUS that said we'd be staying the course. To disregard that speech and buy 100% into well-known garbage news sources is insane. And yes, well known garbage sources. Plenty of libtards dismiss Fox News as a bunch of liars. Maybe their news is slanted (I don't watch any TV news), but I'm sure it is not slanted anywhere near as bad as al-Jizm or whatever it is. That channel had Saddam winning GW2. That channel talks about how Jews need the blood of Arabs to make pastries for some weird ritual.
To listen to al-Jizm and ignore the president of the USA is to set yourself up to be wrong. Do politicians lie? Sure. Do they lie on the order of magnitude of Arab TV? Not even close. It's like comparing a beggar and that knucklehead from Enron - same shit, but worlds apart in scale.
